Congratulations to the February 2025 Business of the Month; Quality Sand & Landscape Supplies Whyalla
It’s been February already and this time we celebrate yet another proud and family orientated business that Whyalla seems to be so abundantly full of. Dave Blackwell has been with the company for nearly 40 years before becoming the owner with wife Leanne in 2013. Dave and Leanne are both supported by their two daughters Abbey and Natasha, brother Ken and three other employees Joey, Ben (Ken’s Son in Law), and Maddison who is the newest recruit. The business is synonymous within the community.
The products and services that Quality Sand provides is large to say the least. You’ll find everything you need for your home, commercial, and civil projects no matter the size or location. These products include over 15 sand and soil materials, 9 assorted decorative stone products, 5 different mulch and bark and 4 different types of pre-bagged cement assortments. Keeping in mind that winter isn’t too far away they also provide cut and split seasonal wood for your home comfort.
And whilst we’re proud that Quality Sand is right here in Whyalla, they have spread their services in vast areas such as Stirling North, Cowell, Kimba, Woomera, Roxby Downs, and even Adelaide. Along with this they have a long-term business relationship with Holcim whom they supply washed sand for the company’s cement plants which are also across South Australia but reach as far as the Buzzard Mine Site located near Mcdoull Peak in the Far North of the State.
Dave and Leanne have value added to their business by being community immersed and proud to do so. They support several community activities including water supply to the Whyalla Drag Club, sand to the Golf Club, lawn for our Cemetery, and certified sand for our kids playpits. Being mindful of others they continue to use local contractors where possible by promoting Whyalla first.
